JOB Description
Period: 15. August to 31 January 2012
The internship programme is aimed at providing the Intern with an orientation to and exposure of Danish development assistance activities in Nepal as well as other duties of a Danish Embassy (consular tasks etc.). The opportunity to join field visits and participate in meetings on various development/programme issues will enhance the Intern’s practical knowledge and experience.
The Intern refers to the supervisor Ms. Lis K. Christensen. Main Responsibilities: Support the daily activities of the Embassy but primarily assist the Embassy’s Human Rights Good Governance and Peace Support section.
Tasks: - Participate in the Embassy’s daily activities, meetings etc. - Support the work of the Human Rights Good Governance and Peace Support section, which includes cooperation with NGOs and INGOs, state institutions, the Nepalese Government, UN and other bilateral and multilateral donors. - Participate in meetings regarding various development and programme related matters. - Assist with relevant administrative and consular matters. - Preparation of brief papers related to human right issues. - Preparation of a brief report about a topic of interest to the Intern and the Embassy. (optional)
The Intern reports to the Head of the appointed development desk but assists the Embassy as a whole.
Terms and Conditions for the Intern: As no salary will be paid the intern must be able to cover his/her expenses related to travels, accommodation, living expenses, insurances etc. However, a cost of living subsidy allowance and local field visit costs will be provided by the Embassy. Candidates must as a minimum have completed the Bachelor level in a relevant area. Solid English skills and knowledge of IT is required.
